Seniors Welcome

2018 Captain – Richard Stephen

2018 brings another year where everyone can enjoy friendship, shared camaraderie (not forgetting story telling) and of course the challenges that Tapton Park Golf Course has to offer, so I would like to take this opportunity to give a warm welcome to past and present members for the coming year.

Throughout the year the Seniors section has a full and varied programme of fixtures / competitions including a number of friendly competitions with other clubs across the region. Historically the Section has managed to arrange several joint events with the Ladies Section and it is my intention to continue this aspect of the golfing calendar for 2018.

As Seniors Captain this year my chosen charities are LifePoint and Handigolf. LifePoint is a local charity that works tirelessly to try and improve the lives of those individuals and families that are homeless in Chesterfield.  Handigolf is a charity that supports physically disabled people who have to be seated to play all golf shots. Specially designed electric buggies are used to transport the golfer and clubs to all parts of the course. It is my intention to link up with the Mens Section and by combining some of the funds raised we hope to purchase a bespoke ‘Ride On’ machine which will help and encourage individuals who have a physical disability to take up golf and through sport improve their quality of life. I hope you will support me in helping to raise funds for those two worthy charities.

The Seniors Section is always looking to increase it’s membership, so if you are interested in being part of this friendly, thriving club ( all levels of golfing ability are given a warm welcome) you can find out more by ringing 01246 276355
